A short drive from Toronto (2hrs), we recently discovered Long Point Provincial Park.(along the north shore of Lake Erie). Sand camping; There's something about walking around the campsite with soft sand between your toes!
There were 2 almost empty beaches however keep in mind this was late in the season and Long Point is considered one of the 10 most popular campgrounds closest in the vicinity of Toronto. It is world-renowned for migrating birds in the spring and fall. Bird-watchers have spotted 383 different species of birds on Long Point itself, which is recognized as a biosphere reserve by the United Nations.
